The «quality» feature of the sign
The «quality» feature of a «plus» signed function is a «positive», the competence in the positive area of the features, with the incompetence in the negative area.
The «quality» feature of a «minus» signed function is a «negative», the competence in the negative and positive areas.
The feature of «quality» is seen rather brightly in the functions processing information by information elements: R (relational ethics), E (emotive ethics), S (experiential sensing), F (volitional sensing), L (structural logic), P (practical logic), I (potentiality intuition), T (temporal intuition).
Simply defined, the «quality» feature is a division of the whole information element area into good and bad: good relations / bad relations, logical / illogical, positive mood / bad mood, good / bad feeling, positive potential, convenience / inconvenience etc.
«Only once I faced an explicitly negative attitude. I tried to be benevolent, to establish a contact. But anyway the person under review revealed his lack of leaning by some communication nuances. Finally, I just gave up my attempts to establish a contact, but I did not cross the limits of benevolence. On my part, it was next to impossible to experience a negative attitude in return. It kills me the mood that is why I wish to preserve peacefulness even in response to a negative attitude. It is strange, but true. From the look of things, I forgive the offence caused. I’ve just tried to remember at least one offence caused to me, but I could not. It means that I’ve already forgiven it.»

«I avoid conflicts just like that, for no particular reason. Although sometimes I may enter into a conflict in order to cheer me up and to have fun. But only in case the conflict would not get serious and would not hurt the opponent. I never think: I should not argue with anyone because of any benefits. It’s just why argue if I can do without it?»

A «plus» function in the minus area responds as a one-dimensional function regardless of its dimension.
A «plus» function is incompetent in the «minus», that is why its «avoidance of negative» is explained by its pursuit not to get into the «minus» area at all and it looks like escape. When getting into this area, a «plus» function loses its reference points, it does not know how to respond, the responses may be totally inadequate.
